Cleveland National Weather Service to participate in
Skywarn Recognition Day December 3rd
SKYWARN
Recognition Day was developed in 1999 by the National Weather Service and the
American Radio Relay League. It celebrates the contributions that SKYWARN
volunteers make to the NWS mission, the protection of life and property.
Amateur radio operators comprise a large percentage of the SKYWARN volunteers
across the country. The Amateur radio operators also provide vital
communication between the NWS and emergency management if normal communications
become inoperative. During the SKYWARN Special Event operators will visit NWS
offices and contact other radio operators across the world.
If you
would like to come operate at the NWS Cleveland office, please contact Mat, KC8NZJ
info@ccskywarn.org
Skywarn
Recognition Day 2016 is from 7PM Friday, December 2, until 7PM Saturday,
December 3. Please note, the Cleveland Office will only be participating
Saturday, December 3, 10 AM to 7 PM.

Work continues to promote the visibility of Amateur Radio
enforcement within the FCC. ARRL General Counsel Chris Imlay, W3KD, reported
that meetings have been held with the FCC concerning more effective FCC use of
the volunteer resources of the Amateur Auxiliary (Official Observers) program,
the current FCC-ARRL Amateur Auxiliary Agreement, and the development of a new Memorandum of Understanding that
better incorporates the Amateur Auxiliary program — especially in light of the
FCC’s recent closing of field offices and reduction of Spectrum Enforcement
Division staff.
The Executive Committee directed Second Vice President Brian
Mileshosky, N5ZGT, to continue work on the review and revitalization of the
Amateur Auxiliary, in cooperation with the FCC, to ensure active use of the
Amateur Auxiliary program.

You can find the photo gallery at:
http://arrl-ohio.org/action_pics/action.html as
well as there is a link to this page right from the main page of the Ohio
Section website..
These pictures can include any special event, activity and
so forth that your ARES or Club has done.. I’m sure you get the idea. Send your
pictures to me at: n8sy@n8sy.com and
include a brief explanation of the event and I’ll get the pictures added to the
gallery.. I’ve already got the pictures from “Convention Week” and the Mahoning
Disaster Drill.. I’m looking for great new pictures that I might be able
to use in the next Ohio Section Banner, so make sure that you get your pictures
to me.. I want a great representation of ALL of the Ohio Section.
C’mon gang.. send me those action pictures! I’m sure that
there are a lot of them out there and I want them ALL!! Don’t be bashful.

I urge all of you to make sure that everyone, regardless of
whether they are a League member or not, get signed up to receive these emails.
You can always “Opt-Out” at any time if you feel this is not what
you were expecting.

Hey Gang.. Are you ready to enter the NEWEST Handbook
Giveaway” drawing? This month is Thanksgiving and to show our “Thanks” and we’re giving away a special Thanksgiving
Give Away in addition to the regular drawing. That’s right, there will be two
drawings this month. The drawing is already on the website, so don’t delay!!
To get entered into both drawings you have to register no
later than 11:59pm on November 23rd. Once you’ve entered, you will be entered
to have two changes at the Handbook. That’s right, TWO.. After the Thanksgiving
drawing is complete we will go on to the end of the month with another drawing,
if you’ve registered early you’ll have two changes automatically!! So,
for those of you who have told me that you just never win anything, talk to
Gregg Gary, WB8YYS. He used to say the same thing until last month. Now he’s
the proud owner of a Handbook.
To enter the drawing all you need to do is fill in a couple
of boxes on the form.. (your name and email). That’s you need to do to be
entered into a drawing to win a 2016 ARRL softcover Handbook. There’s nothing
else required (Oh.. You do need to be a resident of Ohio to win..)
The winner will be mailed the Handbook at my cost. Best of luck to you, and get
registered early so that you don’t miss out on the two chances to win!
