Hi Gang,
I just wanted to drop into your email box for a
short talk about ARES Connect. There’s been a lot of chatter in recent meetings
and on the Social Media pages lately about how the Ohio Section has ramp up
fully with it. It seems that some of you Volunteers, and even some of the Admins
are getting confused and lost on what their role is with ARES Connect, and what’s
expected of you as a Volunteer, and those as Admins once an event has been
setup.
I have created some step-by-step instructions
for both the Volunteer as well as the Admin so that we don’t loose anyone. Yes,
it’s a new system that does things differently than what you are used to. You
can find this information at:
I also have a link from the main page of
the Ohio Section website as well…
I also have a “Hints & Kinks” section that
is designed to hopefully answer some of your questions about why ARES Connect
does what it does, and why it doesn’t do some things that you feel it should.
Yes, I am still wanting to hear any questions that you may have about ARES
Connect. I also want to hear about what you feel it should do to help you better
use the system. As I’ve stated – “We want NO ONE left behind” on this.
Ok.. Now, let’s switch gears just a bit... There’s
a really fantastic hamfest coming up this Saturday, August 10th at DX
Engineering in Talmadge. Dale Williams, WA8EFK, our Great Lakes Director and I will
be on-hand at the ARRL table to answer your ARRL questions, and yes, even those
questions that you may have about ARES Connect! There’s going to be a FREE flea
market, giveaways, special discounts, and even Go-Kit contest as well as satellite
operation demonstrations! The best part of this hamfest is that it’s ALL
FREE!!!
Here’s a link to all the details..
