Skywarn Recognition Day.. Plus Lot's More..

**********

Cleveland National Weather Service to participate in Skywarn Recognition Day December 3rd

SKYWARN Recognition Day was developed in 1999 by the National Weather Service and the American Radio Relay League. It celebrates the contributions that SKYWARN volunteers make to the NWS mission, the protection of life and property. Amateur radio operators comprise a large percentage of the SKYWARN volunteers across the country. The Amateur radio operators also provide vital communication between the NWS and emergency management if normal communications become inoperative. During the SKYWARN Special Event operators will visit NWS offices and contact other radio operators across the world.

If you would like to come operate at the NWS Cleveland office, please contact Mat, KC8NZJ info@ccskywarn.org

Skywarn Recognition Day 2016 is from 7PM Friday, December 2, until 7PM Saturday, December 3. Please note, the Cleveland Office will only be participating Saturday, December 3, 10 AM to 7 PM.

For more information about Skywarn Recognition Day, visit http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/mtr/hamradio/

Work Continues to Strengthen Relationship between Amateur Auxiliary, FCC

Work continues to promote the visibility of Amateur Radio enforcement within the FCC. ARRL General Counsel Chris Imlay, W3KD, reported that meetings have been held with the FCC concerning more effective FCC use of the volunteer resources of the Amateur Auxiliary (Official Observers) program, the current FCC-ARRL Amateur Auxiliary Agreement, and the development of a new Memorandum of Understanding that better incorporates the Amateur Auxiliary program — especially in light of the FCC’s recent closing of field offices and reduction of Spectrum Enforcement Division staff.

The Executive Committee directed Second Vice President Brian Mileshosky, N5ZGT, to continue work on the review and revitalization of the Amateur Auxiliary, in cooperation with the FCC, to ensure active use of the Amateur Auxiliary program.

Hey Gang..  Are you ready to enter the NEWEST Handbook Giveaway” drawing? This month is Thanksgiving and to show our “Thanks”  and we’re giving away a special Thanksgiving Give Away in addition to the regular drawing. That’s right, there will be two drawings this month. The drawing is already on the website, so don’t delay!!

To get entered into both drawings you have to register no later than 11:59pm on November 23rd. Once you’ve entered, you will be entered to have two changes at the Handbook. That’s right, TWO.. After the Thanksgiving drawing is complete we will go on to the end of the month with another drawing, if you’ve registered early you’ll have two changes automatically!!  So, for those of you who have told me that you just never win anything, talk to Gregg Gary, WB8YYS. He used to say the same thing until last month. Now he’s the proud owner of a Handbook.

To enter the drawing all you need to do is fill in a couple of boxes on the form.. (your name and email). That’s you need to do to be entered into a drawing to win a 2016 ARRL softcover Handbook. There’s nothing else required (Oh.. You do need to be a resident of Ohio to win..)   The winner will be mailed the Handbook at my cost. Best of luck to you, and get registered early so that you don’t miss out on the two chances to win!
