Field Day stuff and a few things more..

Hi Gang,

Just wanted to let everyone know that I will be out and about again this year for Field Day. I will try to get to as many Field Day Sites as I can. I will be taking pictures everywhere I go. I would like to ask you to take lots of pictures too.. Please, send them to me. I will be putting them into a gallery on the Ohio Section website so that everyone can enjoy them. It’s a great way of getting to show off your Field Day Site..

Have FUN at your Field Day, but most of all..  BE SAFE!!  I strongly encourage every Field Day to have a Safety Officer active. Also.. there’s lots of ways to earn extra points, I have two of the newest ways posted on the website:
 http://arrl-ohio.org/FD_Message.html

NOTE:.. Since I will be on the road visiting your Field Day sites, please send any Radiograms that you create for me via the OSSBN  – www.ossbn.org   and you can find them on (3.972.5MHz.)

Don’t forget to print off the Ohio Proclamation and proudly display that along with all of your other handouts at your Information Table. Having your PIO available to talk to the media is also a great idea.

If you haven’t already heard.. The FCC has denied the petition of an Arizona radio amateur, who had petitioned for lifetime Amateur Radio licenses. Mark F. Krotz, N7MK, of Mesa, had filed his Petition for Rule Making (RM 11760) with the FCC last November, and the FCC invited public comments in February. Krotz wanted the FCC to revise § 97.25 of its rules to indicate that Amateur Radio licenses are granted for the holder’s lifetime, instead of for the current 10-year term. Hundreds of radio amateurs commented on the petition, but the FCC was not swayed by those favoring the idea.

The ARRL Programs and Services Committee (PSC) has appointed George W. “Bud” Hippisley, W2RU (ex-K2KIR), as the new Eastern Area Chair for the ARRL National Traffic System™ (NTS™) for a 2-year term, effective immediately. The appointment comes 2 days after the ARRL Executive Committee voted to remove NTS Eastern Area Chair Joe Ames, W3JY. The PSC reached out to Hippisley this week, and he accepted the PSC’s request. This will be his second appointment to the Eastern Area Chair of NTS.

And Finally.. For those of you who haven’t participated in the NEWEST “Handbook Giveaway” drawing, time is running short.. You’d better get cracking on this, as that you don’t have that many more days left until the drawing for this month.!! To enter the drawing all you need to do is fill in a couple of boxes on the form.. (your name and email). That’s you need to do to be entered into a drawing to win a 2016 ARRL softcover Handbook. There’s nothing else required (Oh.. You do need to be a resident of Ohio to win..)   The winner will be mailed the Handbook at my cost. This is being offered just to see how many folks are really checking in on the website. Got the idea? Best of luck to you!!

73, for now..
